The famous Knocalla stage of the Donegal International Rally. The road also known as the Blaney Highway, after my late father who sanctioned it’s construction while serving as Minister for Local Government, is probably the most exhilarating and challenging stages in Tarmac Rallying, anywhere in the world. The only way to do it quickly is to just forget about the ‘fresh air’ corners and give it all you got.
That said, I was always relieved to pull up at the time check at the end of the stage! Life affirming doesn’t even come close 🙂
